2.74.010 Civil service regulations established.

The city of Sumas hereby creates and establishes a civil service system of rules and regulations as set before them by the civil service commission governing the Sumas police department. These regulations are on file in the office of the clerk-treasurer as Exhibit A attached to the ordinance codified in this section. (Ord. 839, 1982)

2.74.020 Officer candidate lists.

The city police department shall compile and keep two lists of candidates for hiring police officers for the city. One list shall be made up of people passing the civil service examination and the other list shall be made up of law enforcement officers presently employed by a recognized law enforcement agency within the United States other than the city of Sumas. The city shall select from either list, however, at the option of the chief of police and with the concurrence of the mayor. (Ord. 940, 1987)

2.74.030 Clothing allowance.

The yearly maximum for each police officer’s uniform allowance is set at six hundred dollars. (Ord. 1464 § 1, 2007: Ord. 1209, 1997)

2.74.040 Fee for fingerprinting.

A.    A fee of twenty-four dollars per concealed weapon application shall be charged and passed on to the FBI.

B.    All other fingerprinting done by the police department shall be done for a fee of ten dollars per set. (Ord. 1154, 1995)
