ENERGY EFFICIENT APPLIANCE REBATE PROGRAM

12.10.010 Rebate program.
Residential customers purchasing electricity from the city of Sumas who purchase certain energy efficient appliances to be utilized exclusively at a residence served with electric energy by the city of Sumas may apply to the city for a rebate based upon the purchase of that appliance as set forth in this chapter. 12.10.020 Rebate schedule.
A residential customer who purchases one of the following appliances consistent with Section 12.10.010 of this chapter, that meets Energy Star requirements, may apply to the city for a rebate as follows:
(1) Water heater tank: $60.00.
(2) Clothes washing machine: $50.00.
(3) Dishwasher: $35.00.
(4) Refrigerator: $50.00.
(5) Freezer: $50.00.
In order to qualify for the above rebate the purchased appliance must be Energy Star. (Ord. 1331 § 1 (part), 2001)
12.10.030 Funding.
The rebates described in the preceding sections will be provided only to the extent that funds are available as determined from time to time by the city council of the city of Sumas by resolution. (Ord. 1331 § 1 (part), 2001)
12.10.040 Application and authorization for rebate.
The city clerk is authorized to issue rebates consistent with this chapter upon application for the same by a residential electric energy customer of the city of Sumas. The city clerk shall establish an application to be completed by a customer applying for such a rebate requesting appropriate information including that sufficient to establish the identity of the customer and proof of the purchase, installation, and use of a qualified appliance. This may include requesting receipts, purchase labels, and inspections to verify installation and use. (Ord. 1331 § 1 (part), 2001)
