ELECTRICAL CODE

14.08.010 Adopted.
There is adopted and by this reference made a part of this chapter as though fully set forth herein, at length, that certain code, known as the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), 2017 Edition, as now and hereafter amended, as the electrical code of the city of Sumas. 14.08.020 Permit required.
No person shall place or install in any building, or cause or permit same to be done, any wiring apparatus or fixtures for the use of electricity, or make, cause or permit any change in or additions to any wiring apparatus or fixtures for such use without first obtaining from the inspector a written permit to do so.
Where any person desires to do wiring in his own premises, he shall obtain a permit from the inspector stating the character and amount of the work and that the work is subject to inspection by the inspector and he shall accept or disapprove the same as he may deem advisable.
The word “inspector” whenever used in this chapter means any authorized inspector appointed by the state of Washington pursuant to Chapter 19.28 RCW.
The word “person” means any person, firm or corporation or association. (Ord. 655 § 1, 1968)
14.08.030 Violation deemed misdemeanor.
Any violation of the provisions of the National Electrical Code as herein adopted is a misdemeanor. (Ord. 1413 § 13, 2005)
