FIREMEN’S RELIEF AND PENSIONS

2.40.010 Provided by state.

The state has by the Laws of 1945, Chapter 261, as amended by the Laws of 1955, Chapter 263 (RCW 41.24.010, et seq.) provided for volunteer firemen relief and pension benefits to firemen qualifying therefor, and said act provides for participation of all firemen in cities and towns qualifying under the act and that upon application the city and the fire department thereof would so qualify. (Ord. 113 § 1, 1956).

2.40.020 City to participate in benefits.

The city shall participate in the volunteer firemen’s relief and pension act benefits and the mayor and clerk-treasurer of the city are directed to prepare the necessary application for such participation, to execute the contract required by the State Board of Volunteer Firemen to effectuate the purposes of this chapter at the earliest possible date. (Ord. 113 § 2, 1956).

2.40.030 Annual membership fee.

An annual fee of $3.00 for each member of the fire department shall be paid by the city for the purpose of affording the members of said fire department with protection from death or disability as the act provides. (Ord. 113 § 3, 1956).

2.40.040 Ratio of firemen and population.

The volunteer fire department of the city shall not exceed 25 firemen for each 1,000 population or fraction thereof, and in no event shall the fire department be comprised of less than 15 firemen. (Ord. 113 § 4, 1956).
