SPEED LIMITS

10.08.060    School zone.

10.08.005 Special park speed limits.

A. There is established a special speed limit of five miles per hour within History Park.

B. There is established a special speed limit of five miles per hour within Chief Tonasket Park.

C. There is hereby established a special speed limit of 15 miles per hour on that portion of Railroad Avenue lying between Fourth Street southerly to the point that is 440 feet from the northern entrance of Chief Tonasket Park, and from that point to the northern entrance of the park the speed limit shall be five miles per hour.

D. Appropriate signs shall be erected to comply with the speed limits set forth herein. (Ord. 693 § 1, 2011; Ord. 680 § 1, 2010; Ord. 572 § 1, 2000; Ord. 414 §§ 1, 2, 1989).

10.08.010 Fifteen miles per hour.

A. There is established a speed limit of 15 miles per hour in the following areas in the city, all of which are designated play areas:

1. Locust Avenue from Fourth Street to Winesap Street;

2. Tonasket Avenue from Fifth Street to Sixth Street;

3. Antwine Avenue from First Street to Second Street;

4. State Street from Antwine Avenue to Second Street;

5. Second Street from Antwine Avenue to State Street;

6. Whitcomb Avenue from Jonathan Street to Winesap Street;

7. Workosky Avenue from Fourth Street to Fifth Street;

8. Fifth Street from Workosky Avenue to Antwine Avenue;

9. Bonaparte Avenue;

10. Bretz Road.

B. Appropriate signs shall be erected to comply with the requirement set forth above. (Ord. 734 § 1, 2013; Ord. 663 § 1, 2009; Ord. 572 § 2, 2000; Ord. 174 § 1, 1969; Ord. 164 § 1, 1968).

10.08.020 Twenty miles per hour.

There is hereby established a speed limit of 20 miles per hour on that portion of Seventh Street commencing at its intersection with Whitcomb Avenue and continuing east to the east city limits and also on Mill Drive. (Ord. 734 § 2, 2013; Ord. 536 § 1, 1998).

10.08.030 Twenty-five miles per hour.

It is unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to operate same inside the incorporated limits of the city at a speed in excess of 25 miles per hour on the following described sections of state highway:

State Route 97 (Whitcomb Avenue) from milepost 314.75 at Seventh Street, the south corporate limits northerly to milepost 315.44 at Winesap Street, the north corporate limits, a distance of 0.69 miles.

State Route 20 (Sixth Street) from milepost 261.95, junction of State Route 97 easterly to milepost 262.32 (School Drive vicinity), a distance of 0.37 miles. (Ord. 236 § 1, 1975).

10.08.040 Thirty miles per hour.

10.08.050 Thirty-five miles per hour.

It is unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to operate same inside the incorporated limits of the city at a speed in excess of 35 miles per hour on the following described section of state highway:

State Route 20 (Sixth Street) from milepost 262.32, School Drive vicinity to milepost 262.40, east corporate limits, a distance of 0.08 miles. (Ord. 236 § 1A, 1975).

10.08.060 School zone.

There is hereby adopted a school zone on East Fourth Street commencing at the intersection with Antwine Avenue and continuing to the intersection with Joseph Avenue. The speed limit on said section of East Fourth Street shall be 20 miles per hour when children are present. (Ord. 662 § 1, 2009).
