BOATING REGULATIONS FOR CAPITOL LAKE

12.36.010 Motor boat defined.

“Motor boat,” where used in this chapter, means any boat or vessel which is self-propelled.

12.36.020 Launching.

It is unlawful for any person or persons within the corporate limits of the city to launch any motor boat on Capitol Lake at any site or location other than the designated public launching site.

12.36.030 Hours of operation.

It is unlawful to operate a motor boat on Capitol Lake within the corporate limits of the city between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise.

12.36.040 Reasonable operation required.

The driver or operator of a motor boat on Capitol Lake within the corporate limits of the city shall drive or operate such motor boat in a careful and prudent manner and at a speed no greater than is reasonable and proper under the conditions at the time and place of operation taking into account the amount and character of traffic, the freedom from obstruction to view ahead and so as not to unreasonably endanger persons or property or other rights of other persons entitled to the use of such waters.

12.36.050 Driving under railroad bridges.

It is unlawful for any person or persons to drive or operate or allow to be driven or operated any motor boat under the railroad bridges crossing the lake under power.

12.36.060 Water skiing – Observer required.

It is unlawful for any person or persons to drive or operate a motor boat pulling or towing any person on water skis or any similar device without there being in the motor boat at all times in addition to the operator thereof at least one person whose duty it shall be to observe other boat traffic on the lake and any obstructions ahead.

12.36.070 Water skiing – Distance from shore when towing.

It is unlawful for any person or persons to drive or operate a motor boat within one hundred feet of the shoreline of Capitol Lake while towing any person on water skis or any similar device.

12.36.080 Violation – Penalty.

Violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute a misdemeanor.
