1.14.010 Creation of disability board.

There is created a disability board having jurisdiction over the retirement system for police officers and firefighters as provided for by 1969 ex.s. c. 209, as amended by the 1969 ex.s. c. 219, by 1974 1st ex.s. c. 120, and by 1981 c. 294. (Ord. 2856 § 1, 1991)

1.14.020 Functions of the board.

The disability board shall perform all functions, exercise all powers and make such determinations as may be specified under the foregoing laws of the state of Washington and as the same may be amended from time to time. (Ord. 2856 § 2, 1991)

1.14.030 Membership of the disability board.

The disability board shall consist of the following members:

(1) Two members of the city commission to be appointed by the mayor;

(2) One active or retired firefighter to be elected by the firefighters employed by or retired from the city;

(3) One active or retired law enforcement officer to be elected by the law enforcement officers employed by or retired from the city;

(4) One member from the public at large who resides within the city to be appointed by the other four duly appointed and elected members heretofore designated. (Ord. 2856 § 3, 1991)

1.14.040 Terms of office.

All members appointed or elected pursuant to WCC 1.14.030 shall serve two-year terms. (Ord. 2856 § 4, 1991)

1.14.050 Compensation.

The members of the disability board shall receive no compensation for their services upon the board, but shall be reimbursed for all expenses incidental to such service in the manner and amount provided for employees of the city. (Ord. 2856 § 5, 1991)

1.14.060 Organization – Rules and regulations – Meetings.

The disability board shall elect from its membership a chairman who shall serve a one-year term. The chairman shall be entitled to succeed himself or herself in office unless said chairman is not reappointed or reelected to a new term. The disability board shall adopt operating rules and procedures and shall meet at such time and place as such rules and regulations shall provide; provided, however, such rules and regulations shall at all times conform to regulations promulgated pursuant to the Washington Administrative Code.
