10.10.010 Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to regulate in a reasonable manner the crossing of center barriers on divided roadways within the town.  (Ord. 467 §1(part), 2007)

10.10.020 Definition.

The term “divided roadway” means any roadway within the town capable by width of handling two vehicles traveling in opposite directions at the same time, and divided by leaving an intervening space or a physical barrier or clearly indicated dividing section or by a median island not less than eighteen inches wide formed either by solid yellow pavement markings or by a yellow crosshatching between two solid yellow lines so installed as to control vehicular traffic.  (Ord. 467 §1(part), 2007)

10.10.030 Crossing of center barrier on selected divided roadways.

Whenever any roadway inside the town of Wilbur has been divided into two or more roadways by leaving an intervening space or by a physical barrier or clearly indicated dividing section or by a median island not less than eighteen inches wide formed either by solid yellow pavement markings or by a yellow crosshatching between two solid yellow lines so installed as to control vehicular traffic, every vehicle shall be driven only upon the right-hand roadway unless directed or permitted to use another roadway by official traffic-control devices or police officers.  No vehicle shall be driven over, across or within any such physical barrier or dividing section or space or median island, or at a crossover or intersection established by public authority.  Every person in violation of this section shall be subject to an infraction in the amount as set forth in the Wilbur Municipal Code Chapter 1.08.  (Ord. 467 §1(part), 2007)

10.10.040 Violation-–Penalty.

Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be deemed to have committed a civil infraction punishable by a fine as set forth in Section 1.08.030.  (Ord. 467 §1(part), 2007)
