ELECTRIC SCOOTERS

10.28.010 Intent.
Pursuant to Section 349.237, Wisconsin Statutes, the city of Brookfield hereby exercises its authority to regulate the rental and operation of electric scooters. (Ord. 2596-20 § 1 (part), 2020)
10.28.020 Definitions.
The definitions of Section 340.01, Wisconsin Statutes, as amended, are hereby adopted by reference and used within this chapter. (Ord. 2596-20 § 1 (part), 2020)
10.28.030 Scooters regulated.
A. No person shall operate an electric scooter on any roadway under the city’s jurisdiction having a speed limit of more than twenty-five (25) miles per hour.
B. No person shall park electric scooters on roadways, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, or bicycle ways under the city’s jurisdiction.
C. The short-term commercial rental of electric scooters to the general public is hereby prohibited. No person, firm, partnership, or corporation shall participate in the short-term commercial rental of electric scooters. (Ord. 2596-20 § 1 (part), 2020)
10.28.040 Penalty.
Any person, firm, partnership, or corporation who violates any part of this chapter shall be subject to the penalty and enforcement provisions in Chapter 1.12. (Ord. 2596-20 § 1 (part), 2020)
