2.40.010 City council.

Commencing with and effective upon any person beginning a new term as a city council member after the general election in November, 2008, the salary of each city council member shall be one hundred twenty-five dollars per meeting.

No compensation will be awarded for a meeting to any council member who fails to attend that meeting, regardless of the reason, and the compensation paid to any council member for his or her duties as a council member and as a member of the Kerman redevelopment agency shall not exceed three hundred dollars per month in the aggregate.

In the year prior to a general election for the election of members of the city council, the city manager shall ask the city council to consider whether the compensation of the council, redevelopment agency members, and planning commissioners should be changed, with any such changed to become effective upon the commencement of new terms of any of said officers  (Ord. 08-01 § 1, 2008: Ord. 92-11 §1, 1992:  Ord. 79-6 §3, 1979).

2.40.015 Council reimbursement for expenses.

Members of the city council shall be entitled to reimbursement of their actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their official duties.  To obtain reimbursement, the council member shall submit written evidence of the expense to the finance department.  Alternately, a council member may make a written claim reimbursement for out of pocket expense according to the per meal or per diem schedule applicable to city employees as may be adopted by resolution from time to time.  Reimbursement of a council member’s meal, travel or lodging expense shall include only those amounts necessary for the council member, and shall not include meals, travel, or lodging purchased for other persons.  (Ord. 05-05 §1, 2005).

2.40.018 Redevelopment agency.

Commencing with and effective upon the swearing in of members of the redevelopment agency after the general election in November, 2008, salaries of the members of the redevelopment agency shall be thirty dollars per meeting; provided, that the monthly salary paid to a redevelopment agency member who also serves as a member of the city council shall not exceed the limits set forth in Section 2.40.010.  (Ord. 08-01 §2, 2008).

2.40.020 City manager.

The salary of the city manager shall be fixed by the council by resolution.  (Ord. 87-08 §1(part), 1988:  prior code §2-906).

2.40.030 Finance director.

The finance director shall receive as compensation that salary which the city council shall from time to time determine and establish by budget or resolution, and the compensation shall be a proper charge against such funds and departments of the city as the city council shall designate.  (Ord. 104 §3, 1959).

2.40.040 Police department members.

The compensation of the chief of police and the compensation of the deputies or employees of the police department shall be fixed by the city council by resolution.  (Ord. 112 §1, 1960:  Ord. 9(part), 1946).
