2.16.020 Longevity pay.

A. Longevity pay will accrue on a monthly basis and be paid annually to all qualified employees on the last business day of November of each calendar year within their regular payroll, in the form of a separate check, according to the following schedule:

B. Qualified Employees. Longevity pay shall be earned by the following classes of qualified employees:

1. Full-Time FLSA Exempt. All full-time FLSA exempt employees who are covered by Administrative Policy No. 2009-01 as adopted on April 6, 2009, and as amended in the future.

2. Collective Bargaining Employees. Those employees whose employment is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, which contains provisions relating to longevity pay, shall receive longevity pay as provided in applicable collective bargaining agreements.

3. Regular Part-Time Employees. Employees who are hired for part-time employment on a continuing regular basis without a break in employment shall receive longevity pay on a proportionate basis of hours worked per the appropriate schedule provided in subsection (A) of this section.

C. New or Terminating Employees. Longevity pay for new or terminating employees shall accrue for their first and/or last month of employment based on the following calculation: the maximum monthly accrual divided by the total number of calendar days in the month of hire or termination, times the number of calendar days said employee is on the city’s payroll. 2.16.030 Compensation for council members elected or appointed on or after January 1, 2002.

Council members elected or appointed to terms commencing on or after January 1, 2002, shall not receive a monthly wage but shall receive compensation in the amount of $40.00 for each meeting attended by the council member, up to a maximum of $160.00 per month. For the purpose of this section, “meeting” shall mean each council meeting and study session (which shall count as one meeting), AWC-approved meetings, meetings called by the council or mayor, any meeting of the council adjourned or continued to a new date, meetings of a committee to which a council member is appointed, meetings of boards to which a council member is appointed, and such other meetings as shall be approved by the council. 2.16.040 Option of council members, planning commission chair, and planning commission members to be paid annually.

At the written option of any council member, planning commission chair, or planning commission member, the city shall pay such official once a year at the end of each calendar year; provided, that wages or compensation of such official shall not exceed the amount of such official would have received if paid monthly. The finance director shall provide a form for such officials to sign to elect this option. (Ord. 911 § 4, 2000)
