8.24.010 Definitions.

For the purposes of this chapter the following definitions are applicable:

A.    “Flammable liquids or vapor” means any liquids, gasses, chemicals or vapor which are very easily ignited and burn with rapidity or with explosive force or detonation.

B.    “Mobile tank trucks” means any self-propelled motor vehicle equipped with a permanent mounted tank used for the transportation of flammable liquids, gases, chemicals, and other toxic materials.

C.    “Parking lot” means an area used to park mobile trucks or trailers.

D.    “Trailer” means a movable vehicle with a permanent tank used to transport flammable liquids, gases, chemicals, and other toxic materials. (Prior code § 18.24-1: Ord. 303 § 1)

8.24.020 Applicability.

This chapter shall apply to all existing racks, platforms, structures and all businesses or operations of every kind and character and to all subsequent operations and businesses hereafter commenced in the city. (Prior code § 18.24-7: Ord. 303 § 6)

8.24.030 Location of structures with regard to sources which would cause ignition of places of human occupancy.

No rack, platform or other structure which is used in cleaning tanks or containers of flammable liquids, fumes or vapors shall be located less than seventy-five feet from any source which could cause ignition of any place of human occupancy. (Prior code § 18.24-2: Ord. 303 § 2)

8.24.040 Parking of trucks and trailers with regard to sources which would cause ignition of places of human occupancy.

No mobile tank truck or trailer shall be parked less than seventy-five feet from any source which could cause ignition of place of human occupancy. (Prior code § 18.24-3: Ord. 303 § 3)

8.24.050 Dispelling hazardous gases prohibited.

Toxic vapors, fumes, or other contaminants shall not be dispelled so as to cause a hazard in residential areas. (Prior code § 18.24-4: Ord. 303 § 4)

8.24.060 Fire extinguishers on premises required.

There shall be present on the premises and maintained in working condition such suitable fire equipment, including extinguishers required for flammable liquid fires, as required by the fire chief for the San Pablo fire protection district. (Prior code § 18.24-5: Ord. 303 § 5)

8.24.070 Enforcement of regulations.

Either the building inspector of the city or the fire chief of the San Pablo fire protection district may act as the enforcement officer of this chapter. (Prior code § 18.24-8: Ord. 303 § 10)

8.24.080 Violations deemed nuisances.

Any violation of this chapter shall be a public nuisance and the same shall be abated by injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction upon prior approval of the city council. (Prior code § 18.24-6: Ord. 303 § 7)
