6.10.010 Cruelty to animals.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to overdrive, overload, drive when overloaded, overwork, torture, deprive of necessary sustenance, cruelly beat, mutilate, or kill needlessly, or to carry or transport in any vehicle or otherwise in a cruel and inhuman manner, any animal, or to cause any of these acts to be done. 6.10.020 Starvation of animals.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation having charge or custody of any animal, to fail to provide it with proper food, drink and protection from the weather, or to cause any of these acts to be done. [Ord. 203 § 2, 1972. Code 1999 § 11-3-2].

6.10.030 Abandonment of animals.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to abandon any animal or to cause such to be done. [Ord. 203 § 3, 1972. Code 1999 § 11-3-3].

6.10.040 Poisoning domesticated animals.

It shall be unlawful for any person to poison any dog or dogs or to distribute poison in any manner whatsoever with the intent or for the purpose of poisoning any domesticated animals. [Ord. 203 § 4, 1972. Code 1999 § 11-3-4].

6.10.050 Frightening, shooting, killing, trapping, molesting, etc., song and insectivorous birds.

It shall be unlawful for any person, at any time, within the corporate limits of the town of Granby to frighten, shoot at, wound, kill, take, capture, ensnare, net, trap or in any other manner molest or injure any robin, lark, whippoorwill, finch, sparrow, thrush, wren, martin, swallow, snowbird, bobolink, red-winged blackbird, crow, raven, oriole, kingbird, mockingbird, song sparrow or other songbird or insectivorous bird; or in any manner molest or injure the nest or young of any such bird, or have in possession the nest, eggs, young or body of such bird. 6.10.060 Violation of provisions – Penalty.

6.10.070 Sanitary disposal of animal feces.

(a) It is unlawful for the owner or person having charge or control of any animal to permit such animal to defecate and then to allow the feces to remain upon any public street, sidewalk, pathway, park, pedestrian way, or any public facility, on any school grounds, or on any private property not owned or possessed by the owner or person having the charge or control of such animal unless the person shall immediately and securely enclose all feces deposited by the animal in a bag, wrapper, or other container and dispose of it in a sanitary manner.

(b) A sightless person who has the charge or control of a guide dog or a police dog in the performance of law enforcement duties shall be exempt from the provisions of this section. [Ord. 908 § 2, 2019].
