9.10.010 Obstructing traffic.

It shall be unlawful for any person to obstruct in any manner the sidewalk within eight feet from the curb on Agate Avenue, except as provided in GMC 9.10.040, or to obstruct any other sidewalk, public highway, street or alley in the town, or, for the purpose of annoyance or mischief, to place in any doorway or driveway or on any sidewalk, public highway, street or alley in the town any box, barrel, cask or other thing. 9.10.020 Interfering with use of streets or sidewalks.

It shall be unlawful for any person, alone or in a group or assemblage of persons, whose standing, remaining or congregating on any public highway, street, alley, or sidewalk in the town of Granby shall obstruct, interfere with or prevent the free and unobstructed and reasonable use of that public highway, street, alley or sidewalk by any other person, to fail or refuse to yield to the reasonable use or passage of any other person on that public highway, street, alley or sidewalk, or to fail or refuse to move on, disperse or cease such obstruction or interference immediately upon being so ordered by any police officer of the town or other authorized peace officer. 9.10.030 Permits required for parades, processions.

No funeral procession or parade, excepting the forces of the United States Armed Services, the military forces of this state and the forces of the police and fire districts, shall occupy, march or proceed along any street or roadway except in accordance with a permit issued, at least seven days prior to date of parade, by an authorized agent for the town of Granby and notification to the Granby police department, after due consideration of the possible effects of the parade on the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the town of Granby. 9.10.040 Sidewalk sales.

(a) Where the sidewalk is a width of 10 feet between the store and curb, a merchant, person or entity conducting a sale may display merchandise within four feet of the sidewalk immediately adjacent, and in front of their store without obtaining town approval. Such merchandise must be completely removed from the sidewalk at the close of business each day.

(b) On Labor Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and the weekend days (Saturday and Sunday) that are closest to these holidays, a merchant, person or entity may place merchandise anywhere on the sidewalk in front of their store subject to the restriction that any merchandise cannot unreasonably impede pedestrians using the sidewalks. 9.10.050 Penalty.
