10.16.010 THREE-FOURTHS TO TEN-TON CAPACITY.

Any commercial vehicle with a load capacity from three-fourths tons up to and including ten tons, or any vehicle with a load capacity of less than three-fourths ton and which is hauling sand, gravel or crushed stone, shall be driven only upon the following streets within the city:

(1) Southport Road from Madison Avenue to McFarland Road;

(2) Van Dyke Avenue from Madison Avenue to Penn Central Railroad;

(3) Worman Avenue from Madison Avenue to Penn Central Railroad;

(4) West Street from Southport Road to Worman Avenue.

10.16.020 CAPACITY IN EXCESS OF TEN TONS.

Any commercial vehicle with a load capacity in excess of ten tons, but not including vehicles hauling sand, gravel, crushed stone or concrete shall be driven only upon the following streets within the city:

(1) Madison Avenue from south corporate line to north corporate line;

(2) Southport Road from Madison Avenue to Main Street.

10.16.030 HAULING CONCRETE, GRAVEL AND THE LIKE.

Any commercial vehicle which is hauling concrete or any commercial vehicle with a load capacity of three-fourths ton or greater which is hauling sand, gravel or crushed stone shall be driven only upon the following streets within the city, provided the gross weight is less than 20 tons:

(1) Southport Road from Madison Avenue to McFarland Road;

(2) Van Dyke Avenue from Madison Avenue to Penn Central Railroad;

(3) Worman Avenue from Madison Avenue to Penn Central Railroad;

(4) West Street from Southport Road to Worman Avenue.

10.16.040 GROSS WEIGHT OF 20 TONS OR MORE.

Any vehicle with a gross weight of 20 tons or more and operating under the provisions of § 10.16.050 over any of the streets in the city, exclusive of those streets set forth in § 10.16.020, shall secure a permit from the Clerk-Treasurer prior to driving upon these streets. Failure to secure a permit shall be unlawful and subject to fine of not less than $10 or more than $100 to which may be added imprisonment of not more than ten days.

10.16.050 EXCEPTIONS.

The prohibition of §§ 10.16.010, 10.16.020 and 10.16.030 shall not apply where it is necessary and unavoidable in the delivery and pickup of goods and materials to drive on streets other than those set forth in §§ 10.16.010, 10.16.020 and 10.16.030, but, in such cases, the vehicles shall be driven over the shortest route possible and shall, in no event, remain on the street beyond the closest intersection with a street named in §§ 10.16.010, 10.16.020 and 10.16.030.

10.16.060 TRANSIT SYSTEM.

The restrictions of this chapter shall not apply to buses of the Suburban Lines Transit System when driven over routes within the city approved by the City Council.

10.16.070 SIGNS TO BE ERECTED.

The City Board of Works and Safety is directed to cause appropriate signs to be erected notifying the public of the truck routes herein prescribed and of the load limit set forth in § 10.16.040. Entrances to all other streets are to be posted with signs indicating NO VEHICLES IN EXCESS OF 10,000 POUNDS.
