2.20.010 Bond of treasurer.

The treasurer, before entering upon the duties of his or her office, shall file with the council his or her official oath that he or she will faithfully demean himself or herself in office; and also give a bond to the city in the penal sum of $250,000, which bond shall be signed and executed by a surety company duly qualified to transact surety business in the state of Oregon, and which shall be conditioned that he or she will faithfully discharge his or her duties as treasurer, account for and pay over all books, papers, and property belonging to the city that may come into his or her hands by virtue of his or her office. The premiums on the bond shall be paid out of the city treasury. [Ord. 865 § 2, 1984; Ord. 213 § 13, 1939.]

2.20.020 Reports of treasurer.

He shall at the last regular meeting of the common council for the year, or whenever required by the council, make a report to the council of his doings as treasurer. He shall at the time of his report return to the council all warrants paid and canceled by him, which canceling shall be done at time of payment by writing or stamping on the face of the warrant the word “Paid” in large letters with the date of payment. He shall include in his report an account of all money and property which he holds as treasurer and shall turn over the same to his successor. [Ord. 213 § 14, 1939.]

2.20.030 Salary of treasurer.

The treasurer shall receive such salary as the common council may determine. [Ord. 252 § 1, 1942; Ord. 213 § 15, 1939.]

2.20.040 Acting treasurer.

The council deems it necessary to and does hereby establish the office of acting treasurer of the city of Junction City, Oregon. [Ord. 414 § 1, 1962; Ord. 213 § 15.1, 1939.]

2.20.050 Appointment and duties.

In case of illness or temporary absence of the treasurer, the mayor or president of the common council may designate as acting treasurer any person having the qualifications of a treasurer. The person whom he designates shall forthwith take the oath of office and perform the duties of treasurer during the treasurer’s temporary absence or inability to act, and he shall receive such salary as the common council may determine. 2.20.060 Bond.

The acting treasurer, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall file with the council his official oath that he will faithfully demean himself in office and also give a bond to the city in the penal sum of $5,000, which bond shall be signed and executed by a surety company duly qualified to transact surety business in the state of Oregon, and which shall be conditioned that he will faithfully discharge his duties as acting treasurer, account for and pay all money, and turn over to his successor in office or to the treasurer all books, papers, and property belonging to the city that may come into his hands by virtue of his office. The premium on the bonds shall be paid out of the city treasury. [Ord. 414 § 1, 1962; Ord. 213 § 15.3, 1939.]

2.20.070 Offices separate.

The office of finance director/city recorder shall be separated, creating a position of finance director and a position of city recorder. [Ord. 1125 § 1, 2004.]
