2.20.005 Certification.

The superintendent of waterworks shall obtain and maintain during his employment as such a water distribution manager II certificate from the state of Washington.  (Ord. 1290 §1, 1991:  Ord. 1285 §1, 1991).

2.20.010 Appointment--duties.

There shall be appointed by the city council a superintendent of waterworks, who shall have charge of and be responsible for the strict enforcement of all rules and regulations governing the waterworks.  (Prior code §2.40.010).

2.20.020 Authority--Reports.

The superintendent shall have authority in case of accident to the mains and machinery, to employ such help and procure such material as may be necessary to repair the break, and as soon as practicable he shall make a written report to the city council, giving detailed statement of help employed and material used.  (Prior code §2.40.020).

2.20.030 Waterworks construction--Supervision by superintendent.

The superintendent shall have supervision of all construction or extension of the waterworks, under the direction of the city council.  (Prior code §2.40.030).

2.20.040 Recordkeeping--Extension of waterworks.

The superintendent shall keep in his office a complete record of all changes and extensions of the waterworks, giving the location, size, and description of the same.  (Prior code §2.40.040).

2.20.050 Permits for water use.

The superintendent shall issue permits for the use of water upon the written application of any person having premises to be supplied.  (Prior code §2.40.050).

2.20.060 Sale of water from hydrants.

A.  The superintendent of waterworks is authorized to sell water from fire hydrants to any state, county or other municipality, or for their benefit by any agent, contractor or employee.

B.  A twenty-five-dollar nonrefundable fee per calendar year shall be paid by any such entity prior to the use of any water.

C.  The applicant shall accurately compute its water usage and report the amount within three days after completion along with payment to the Treasurer.  (Ord. 1388 §1, 1995).
