REGULATING THE KINDS AND CLASSES OF TRAFFIC ON CERTAIN STREETS

8.10.060 Routes – Trucks carrying overlegal loads and truck-trailer or truck semi-trailer combinations used for intercity or interstate hauling.

All trucks carrying overlegal loads under a state or county permit, traveling to, from or through the city, and all truck and trailer combinations and truck and semi-trailer combinations used in intercity or interstate hauling shall be limited, without special permit, to the following arterial streets: 1st Avenue South and State Route 509. (Ord. 647 § 3, 1998).

8.10.120 Operation on certain streets – Peak hour.

No person shall operate a truck or truck tractor and semi-trailer over eight feet in width, over 30 feet in length, or over 32,000 pounds gross weight, or a motor vehicle with a trailer attached, except authorized buses or stages on any weekday during the 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. hours without a permit for such operation as provided in NPMC 8.08.080, 8.08.100, and 8.08.110 except as provided in NPMC 8.10.130. 8.10.130 Exceptions – Operation on specified streets without a permit.

NPMC 8.08.080, 8.08.100, and 8.08.120 shall not apply to persons operating motor vehicles engaged in movement to or from an in-street work area when such movement to or from the in-street work area is required to protect life, limb or property. (Ord. 647 § 3, 1998).

8.10.140 Operation on nonarterial streets.

No person shall operate a vehicle except authorized buses exceeding 10,000 pounds gross weight on any street that is not designated an arterial street; provided, that this section shall not prohibit necessary local operations on such nonarterial streets for the purpose of reaching the vehicle’s destination or for a pick up or delivery.
