10.08.010 Definition applicability.

The following words and phrases when used in this title shall for the purpose of this title have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter, unless where used the context thereof clearly indicates to the contrary. (Ord 215 §1, 1952)

10.08.020 Curb loading zones.

"Curb loading zone" means a space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

"Passenger curb loading zone" means a place adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers.

"Freight curb loading zone" means a space adjacent to a curb for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of freight. (Ord 215 §8, 1952)

10.08.030 Police Officer.

"Police Officer" means every officer of the municipal Police Department or any officer authorized to direct or regulate traffic or to make arrests for violations of traffic regulations. (Ord 215 §6(a), 1952)

10.08.040 Right-of-way.

"Right-of-way" means the privilege of the immediate use of the roadway. (Ord 215 §3, 1952)

10.08.050 Stopping, standing and parking.

"Stop," when required, means complete cessation of movement.

"Stop, stopping, or standing," when prohibited, means any stopping or standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a Police Officer or traffic-control sign or signal.

"Park," when prohibited, means the standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading.

"Curb marking" or "curb markings" means the portion of any curb designated by the City Traffic Engineer by painting the vertical height of said curb and by painting the horizontal top of said curb, beginning on the side nearest the roadway and proceeding away from the roadway a width of four to six inches, the color of yellow. 10.08.060 Traffic Division.

"Traffic Division" means the Traffic Division of the Police Department of this City, or in the event a Traffic Division is not established, then the term, whenever used herein, refers to the Police Department of this City. (Ord 215 §6(b), 1952)

10.08.070 Vehicle.

For the purpose of this title, "vehicle" means any type of self-propelled motorized two, four, or more, wheeled conveyance for the transportation of persons or goods, wares, and merchandise; any automobile, motorcycle, motorbike, pickup truck, or trucks; and any non-self-propelled vehicle, trailer, boat, boat trailer, or any other wheeled vehicle of any type or description whatsoever. 10.08.080 Time.

Whenever certain hours are named herein, they mean standard time or daylight saving time as may be in current use in this City. (Ord 215 §5, 1952)

10.08.090 Parking space.

"Parking Space" means any space adjacent to a curb or located in a parking lot which is duly designated for the parking of a single vehicle by lines painted or otherwise durably noted on a curb or on the surface of the street or lot as the case may be. (Ord 673, 1985)
