RESTRICTED TRAFFIC ON CERTAIN STREETS

9.64.010 Restricted use of streets by certain vehicles.
(a) The town utilities superintendent is hereby authorized to determine and designate those heavily traveled streets upon which shall be prohibited the use of the roadway by motor-driven cycles, bicycles, horsedrawn vehicles, or other nonmotorized traffic and shall erect appropriate signs giving notice thereof.
(b) When signs are so erected giving notice thereof, no person shall disobey the restrictions stated on such signs. (Ord. 651 § 69, 1967)
9.64.020 Commercial vehicles prohibited on Sumas Avenue.
Any vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) in excess of twenty-six thousand pounds is prohibited from traveling, or being located, upon any portion of that section of Sumas Avenue located south of its intersection with Garfield Street. (Ord. 1634 § 1, 2013)
9.64.030 Vehicle exceptions.
The restrictions contained in Section 9.64.020 shall not prohibit the operation of emergency vehicles, utility repair vehicles, local school buses and vehicles using Sumas Avenue for the delivery of goods or the providing of services directly to locations in the city of Sumas (local deliveries). 9.64.040 Violation—Penalty.
A person found to have committed a violation of any provision of this chapter shall be deemed to have committed a traffic infraction and shall be punished by a penalty of two hundred and fifty dollars. (Ord. 1634 § 3, 2013)
