VOLUNTEER FIREMEN'S RELIEF AND PENSIONS

2.56.010 Enrollment--Relief and compensation provisions.

The town maintains and operates a regularly organized volunteer fire department. Town firemen are enrolled under the relief and compensation provisions of RCW Chapter 41.24. (Ord. 140-B §1, 1983)

2.56.020 Enrollment--Retirement provisions.

Any fireman who is a member of the Wilbur fire department may enroll under the pension provisions of RCW Chapter 41.24 by electing to avail him or herself of the retirement provisions of such law. (Ord. 140-B §2, 1983)

2.56.030 Enrollment--Service requirements.

Any firemen electing to enroll in the retirement program will avail themselves for:

A. A minimum of seventy percent of regular meetings of the fire department;

B. All fire training classes provided by the Wilbur fire department or town;

C. All first-aid classes provided by the Wilbur fire department and the town. (Ord. 140-B §3, 1983)

2.56.040 Collection and remittance of fees.

The secretary-treasurer of the Wilbur fire department shall periodically, as required by law, collect and pay from all town firemen enrolled under the pension provisions of RCW Chapter 41.24, so long as they shall continue to be members of the Wilbur fire department, all fees and payments required of the firemen under such law. Such fees and payments shall be remitted to the Washington State trust fund known as the Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Pension Fund, together with all such fees and payments required for the town, at the times and in the manner required by law. 2.56.050 Adoption of state provisions by reference.

There is adopted by reference and made a part of this chapter RCW 41.24. Each and all of the provisions of RCW Chapter 41.24 are by this reference made a part of this chapter and shall hereafter be in effect in the town in the same manner as if they were fully set forth in this chapter. As required by law, three copies of said RCW Chapter 41.24 are now on file in the Wilbur town clerk's office and shall be kept on file in the town clerk's office while the ordinance codified in this chapter is in effect.
